Missions

How beautiful are the feet of those
who preach the good news.
Romans 10:13-15

First Baptist Church is not only “mission minded” but we are “mission active.” We take seriously the command of our Lord to take the truth of the gospel everywhere we go. We give generously through the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention. We also emphasize 3 special offerings each year: the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering and the Margaret Lackey State Missions Offering. We also give through the Clarke County Baptist Association. Our prayer is that God will open a door for us to serve and provide the passion, leadership and resources for us to go – and we will walk through that door.

In obedience to the Great Commission, we try to maintain a 3-wave approach: local, national, global.

Local Mission Action

The front line of our local missions is our membership. FBC members and Sunday School classes are personally involved in missions and volunteer and are active throughout the community. As a church we are aligned with the Clarke County Baptist Association and help with the distribution of food and clothes to the needy. The church also provides special events to the community such as Fall Fest, VBS and concerts.

We also have a sewing ministry and Women on Mission (formerly WMU) who are very active in missions!

National Mission Action

FBC has partnered over the years with Samaritan’s Purse by sending work teams to Hammond and Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Panama City, Florida. We also partner with the Mississippi Baptist Convention in short term projects like paying for the equipping of a nursery in a church in the delta of Mississippi.

Global Mission Action

FBC has an ongoing partnership with ministries in Honduras, France and the Philippines. Over the last 10 years, we have sent over 60 different people to places like England, Scotland, Honduras, Australia, the Philippines, China and India.

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to take Mission Trips since COVID-19, but we hope to again in the near future!
